Finding our calm

Throughout the year we have looked at how calming our bodies and mind can help us in the classroom. This term we're exploring how yoga and mindfulness can help us with our learning and relationships with others.
We've being using Cosmic Kids to help guide our practice.
Check them out on You Tube at or try their website

Maybe you could join in with your kids at home :)

Term 4 already!

Term 4 has got off to a flying start!
In the first week a lot of us tried ice skating for the first time. We all had a heap of fun together!!

We've been looking more closely at adding detail to our writing by adding more descriptive language like verbs - changing boring ones for effective and juicy verbs. A bit of inspiration came from my time in Rotorua at the ULearn conference over the holidays, where I went to a few science workshops. Here's a little snippet from an experiment that we used for our writing... as you can hear, it generated some excited discussion.

This week room 1 and 2 have had a big focus on Respect.
Keep checking back here to see what we've discovered, discussed and decided.

Welcome back to Term 3

Term 3 already! We had a great first week back, settling back into our routines and working hard.

Here are some sneaky peaks of what we have been busy doing...

We were also visited by Ronald McDonald who went over some road safety tips
* Walk on the house side of the footpath
* Watch out for sneaky driveways and take a step back from the driveway or road if you have to wait for a car to go passed
* Stop, look and listen before you cross the street

Over the coming weeks are are going to be looking at the Olympics, so if it's on the t.v. at your house it might be nice to sit down together, watch it and talk about it so we have more to talk about in class.
Here is a link to the official Rio 2016 Olympic website if you want to check it out together at home
